The fundraising will revert in favour of West African Paralympic Athlete Marcio Fernandes, Cape Verde. Marcio broke his running blades during a race in May this year  and has not been able to train or compete since. He is the African record holder in javelin throw. He was the first Capeverdean Athlete to participate at the Paralympic Games on merit and not by invitation (London 2012). He also won the first IPC medal ever for Cape Verde.

Marcio winns silver at IPC World Athletics Championshion, LyonMarcio has been appealing to the sports authorities to support him in replacing the broken blades. However to date he has not received the much needed running blades. He is now trying to raise the funds to get the new blades.

Parents for Sports is supporting this cause because Marcio is a perfect example of how young people can overcome adversities and use sports in a positive way and be able to carry on with a normal life and go on to great achievements regardless of any physical disabilities.
